Mine just did the same thing, pull over safely but I wasn’t charging, had just parked it to go have dinner at a restaurant.

I had just gone thru the same issue three weeks earlier and was without my truck for two weeks. In that time the recall parts (which my truck was part of) came in and they replaced two modules. Less than a week after getting it back “fixed” it seems to have blown the main fuse again. Awaiting dealers diagnosis…

No. The 12v powered stuff came on fine. Was able to put in emergency tow mode and get towed to…..wait for it…. A shopping center lot because the towns 4th of July parade was blocking the entrance to the dealer…
Oh man. You and I have the same kind of luck.

Update:
The HV module needs to be replaced. Also some cells are reporting bad. They are going to drop the battery to see if it’s a simple cell replacement or if there is more damage and the whole battery needs to be replaced.

Extremely unlikely

Honestly I can handle inconvenience. The biggest issue is the uncertainty with getting a potentially major EV issue diagnosed and resolved, especially with most dealers still being ICE centric. Thankfully the community input from this forum has put me at ease. Before my truck was on the flatbed tow I was given I good understanding of the issue. Furthermore, thanks to a fellow forum member, I was able to get my VIN to Ford so that they could hit the ground running with the diags (which they did as the dealer was surprised that Ford had reached out with the diagnosis before the dealer even had a chance to scan the codes this morning).

The HV module needs to be replaced. Also some cells are reporting bad.
On your ER, there are 9 HV battery modules (aluminum boxes), 8 of which have 11 cell packs of 5 pouches each, and one (#9) smaller that has 8 cell packs of 5 pouches each (modules noted as 5P11 & one 5P8). Total of 96 "cells" that can be measured individually by the dealer diagnostic software.
SR only has 90 cells in their smaller 9 modules with 10 "cells" each, and only 4 pouches per cell (4P10). Therefore less range and hp (lower towing capacity), but a higher truck load capacity due to lighter HV battery modules, I believe.
Another thought is that it may take 22 days to fully balance the HV battery after a module is replaced. Check coolant levels after the work as well, as sometimes the dealer tech may not fully vacuum out trapped air.
The BANG hopefully never happens again. Hopefully the fuse blowing always will stop any chance of lithium cell fire taking off. Hopefully not due to some other short in the power cabling. Look for dead squirrel? I wonder if the dealer can do a meg-ohmmeter reading on the cables, which injects a high voltage between hot wires and ground, and given some time, to test insulation resistance?

I recently took my truck in for a software CSP. When I dropped it off I was talking to the service advisor and she showed me her screen that had all the diagnostic information from my truck in real time. I think the truck is always sending data to the cloud. I was amazed at what they could see before even hooking anything up to the truck. HV and LV charge states and every stored diagnostic code with descriptions. Maybe there was more data that I just didn't see.

RocketGhost is correct. I have had battery modules fail twice. I contacted the service advisor I use at Grappone Ford in Concord, NH by email and in the reply he and the technician had already checked that the truck was having a problem, asked me to get the truck to them ASAP, and had reserved a loaner for me when I dropped the truck off later that day.

You can probably guess I am extremely loyal to that dealership. The benefit to them is I recommend them to every Lightning owner I meet up with.

If you haven’t done so already, you should get Ford’s BEV team involved.
