Remote start using key fob?

Bam! Wife loves the Apple Watch App for our Lightning, well was mine, but she's loving the 'Truck I don't want!'. Wow what a difference 547 miles of driving the Lightning can do!!!

That's interesting, but doesn't that start the truck the same way the Fordpass app does, with a cellular connection?

Yes - the watch app won't work if it isn't close to your phone. It won't work stand alone.

I have no idea, I'm not an Apple user but she uses it for everything and never pulls her phone out of her purse or pocket.

I always use my Apple Watch for remote start/unlock/lock as well. I wish the Watch app had more functionality though. Like SOC, cabin temp, etc.

Some of them can yes, but not Ford. Just turn your iPhone off and then try to use the Watch app, you'll see pretty quick what happens.

You guys all make me realize how much of a get-off-my-lawn-90-year-old I am at 41. I have no interest in 1-pedal driving (even though I use the equivalent feature on my motorcycle), but I really appreciate the blended braking system and the ability to coast when I'm off the gas. I'll never subscribe to a SaaS (software as a service) feature for my vehicle. I'm going to listen to the Lithium channel on Sirius until the trial ends and then go back to the FM radio. I'll always use my keyfob to lock/unlock the truck. Hell, I haven't even figured out how to get the hands-free driving blue cruise function to work. I was pleasantly surprised by adaptive cruise control slowing me down with traffic last week. I even managed to turn off the blind-spot sensors in the mirrors by accident. Rather than figure out how to turn them back on, I'm just looking over my shoulder prior to changing lanes like I always have. For a software engineer who works on SaaS products, I feel remarkably old and set in my ways. And I'm okay with that. I still love this truck even if I only use a small subset of the features.

@Pioneer74 Have you tried it yet? Will it plug in? Theoretically, all we need is to remote "ignition" on - not even "start" like an ICE truck.

Pretty sure no remote start on fob is intentional to lock feature away behind a subscription service. It's the way of the future.. subscriptions for everything...

NJ is crafting a law to ban auto subscriptions except for things that actually cost to maintain like onstar & siriusxm but not stuff like heated seats, remote start etc. hopefully other states follow

Its sad we have to think about a law for something like this. Everyone is trying to figure out how to bilk you monthly for something you've already paid for.

If you want to only charge me $50K for the $90K truck the day I drive it off the lot then let me pay a monthly fee to use some of the features that is a different story, but that isn't how this is playing out with some.

That's because the manuals are always outdated and riddled with copy/paste errors! You have to test the product if you want to know how it really behaves.
