The EGO mower is fine but won't cut the acre and a half on a charge as advertised on 4 10AH batteries (it holds 6). Not as quiet as you would think. Don't get 2nd party batteries despite their being 1/4th the price. The lack of a full cut is not a problem as I have other things to do.

I can take it elsewhere and charge from the truck.

2014 F-150 Lightning Flash
We’ve had Ford vehicles for years: Dad had a 1968 LTD Station Wagon, We had a 1989 Escort GT and a 1979 F100 with 3 on the tree. Last Ford was a ‘02 Ranger. Our youngest son who was still living with us got a second hand ‘14 BMW i3 about five years ago and I bought/installed a Level 2 EVSE from Grizzl-e to allow him to charge at home. Got on the Lightning reservation program when they were first announced but backed out once it became clear that an affordable one was gonna be a long wait. Bought a ‘23 VW id.4 and enjoyed it for three years; nice little car but the software is horrible and it has very little space for hauling things (once you have a truck, it is hard to live without one.) A second hand ‘24 Flash with only 1800 miles became available locally back in September so I traded the VW in on it. Couldn’t be happier with my Lightning. I do wish the dealership would’ve known how to get it out of fleet mode, but I learned quite a bit doing it myself. It’s getting updates regularly now.

Best vehicle I’ve ever owned, hands down.

We went to test drive a hybrid Maverick a month ago and we also test drove a Lightning. I considered a Maverick because I wanted an efficient, cost effective truck. We were really enamored with how quiet and smooth the Lightning was. We considered a lot of other options but the Lightning interested me the most for the overall package of features and capabilities. Once I worked out how I could get a Lightning with the features I wanted and a cost I was comfortable paying, I went with it. While I've aspired to own an EV for a long time, I've never even ridden or driven in an EV before.
You made the right call. I had a 2023 hybrid Maverick along with the Lightning. Too many issues with it going into deep sleep mode. Traded for a 2025 non-hybrid which is sadly much better or at least more reliable. But the Lightning is much better than either of them at the end of the day.

I really want an electric mower/tractor, I live with trees dropping around me all the time so always out there cutting/towing/mowing ... and I hate either having to crank it up again or leaving it idling and making noise! I see @Mal106 has an eGo, any recommendations?
We have an EGO Power+ T6 electric riding lawn mower and utility tractor. It’s fantastic. And its batteries are interchangeable with our snowblower’s batteries.

I have a “real” tractor too, but unfortunately it’s diesel. I would love to replace it with an electric. But there aren’t any good electric tractors available in the US and replacing the diesel engine with an electric motor is a bottom-of-the-list project at this time.

My journey included a hard pivot from low cars to the lightning

1994 Camaro 3.4L
1994 Firebird 3.4L
1998 Firebird 3.8L
2001 Camaro SS (pinnacle of my non-electric cars)
—-Started adding kids—-
2016 Kia Optima 2.0T (the turbo lag!!!)
—-needed space for 3 car seats—-

Also have a riding electric mower & 100% electric yard tools so i have no gas can or small engines to take care of.

My Lightning is my first EV/hybrid. Before that I had an ICE F150. Before that a long list of vehicles starting with a 1986 Honda Accord hatchback.

I'm a techie guy and always had an interest in EVs. When the Lightning came out Ford was giving test drives at a local auto show. I was driving and the Ford rep said "now I want you to put both hands on the wheel and push the accelerator all the way to the floor." I did, exclaimed a profanity, and said "I have to get me one of these." And I did. 👍

Limiting to EV's & SemiEV's - first car tho was a 40hp 64 VW Bug & I did discover Drafting behind semi's which comes in handy again with the Lightning's sometimes on roadtrips:

2003 Honda Civic Hybrid - son drove it until the CV tranny went south at 176k miles.

2016 Ford Escape Hybrid - POS as it was using Toyota's 1st Gen tech & engine ran with AC on & gpm dropped like a rock. Did love being able to tick off the engine and run short distances on the battery. Traded off six months later for

2017 Lexux RX400Hybrid - What a nice car ! And the AC ran sans engine. Sold it when 2023 LER came in Jan 2023. @ 16 yrs & 145k miles the HVB showed 80% SOH & would still run the car 1/2 to 3/4 miles @ 35 mph - signed up second day for the Lightning !

2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid - wife's town car & now g'dtrs driving it @ Rice U

2022 LER Lightning bot 4/2024 for the ranch - bot used for 1/2 the price of the 2023 @ 11k miles and now has 36k miles after DFW-SF and Canada trips - Iced Blue Silver, which is the color I wanted & not available on '23 models.

2024 Mach-e for the wife - not quite as fast as the Lightning, but twice as cheap & fun to drive in crazy mode.

We won't have another ICE machine - the smell behind them is atrocious, should be banned like cigarettes !!

1. 1996 I test drove an EV-1 at the L.A. auto show. I thought it was so cool, quiet power, I thought at the time I was driving the future. But, I couldn't afford leasing one.

2. Fast forward to 2012 When the Model S came out my friend thought it was the greatest thing, I thought, where are you going to charge that thing, that company won't survive.

3. 2017 Model 3 came out, ooooo, I can afford that. My wife wanted it but said, nah, I don't know.

4. 2016, I think, Rivian introduced its truck. I saw it at the L.A. auto show, I wanted that.

5. 2020 I was driving a 2014 F-150, sold it and bought a 2019 Model 3, and that was the last time I ever bought gas for transportation. My wife still had a 2017 GMC Yukon then sold it for a 2023 Model Y and we were done buying gas and oil changes. The EV-1 I drove was red, my Model 3 was red. It was like, it was meant to be.

6. 2021 saw the Lightning at the L.A. auto show.

7. In the middle of owning our Teslas, Ford introduced the Lightning, I reserved my spot, watched every video from that Ford dealer in Kansas, sold my Model 3, and tracked the train ride from Detroit to San Bernardino.:like:

Lightning is our first EV. have a long work commute with three "mountain" crossings between home and work, all country roads. planned on a cyber truck at the original price but Ford got the Lightning out first and at a better price. also that stainless beast is really not my style.

currently 44200 miles on the truck with 25 months of ownership. Fewer miles with the flexible work arrangements that came from 2020 / 2021.

Really enjoying not stopping at a gas station ever other morning. and get some free charging at work (limited stalls, many ev's).

previous commuter was a 2009 Dodge Charger RT AWD. yup the unicorn 5.7 AWD. 318000 miles at time of sale and $55,000.00 spent on fuel over the 14 years of use (Dec 2008 - Jan 2024)

Well, my Lighting is my first EV, but I've been interested for decades. There is an EV E-Mail discussion list that I have been a member of for something like 35 years. Back in those early days I thought about doing a conversion, but not really into that detailed of vehicle work, so never did anything along those lines. I tend to keep vehicles until the wheels fall off so even though I have been driving for 50 years, I have only had five vehicles:
1971 Mazda RX-2 (bought used in 1977 - right after high school)
1982 AMC Eagle (bought new)
1986 Toyota 4x4 pickup with extended cab (bought new)
2003 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 pickup crew cab (bought new)
2024 Lightning Flash (bought new)
The Eagle was the only vehicle that did not work out well. I spent too much time driving up crappy dirt roads to 2-way radio sites and simply beat the thing apart. It was really designed for driving on snow, not crappy roads and could not take the abuse I was giving it. Both the Toyota and Dodge lasted just under 300K miles before needing major engine work.

I have no expectation of ever going back to a gas vehicle and whenever we replace my wife's Corolla, it will almost certainly be another electric.

Before the Lightning I had a 2012 Black Diamond Chevy Avalanche (last year they were made) for 10 years and loved it. Having 25 years in the computer industry (HP, DEC, CPQ) I was looking to get a new truck with updated technology. At the time for use at our lake house I bought a golf car to scoot around the neighborhood. Some of my neighbors had gas powered ones but I already had enough of gas powered stuff. Chainsaws, Leif blowers, weed wackers, edge trimmers, etc. so an electric golf car made all kind of sense and I was right.

So I began tracking all the companies who were promising to develope an EV pickup truck. At the time the Lightning was announced I think I was tracking close to a dozen companies, all startups.... until Ford. Upon viewing the announcement the next morning I immediately made a reservation.... then began a 1 1/2 year wait which was worth the wait... I love my Lightning!

Oh yeah! one additional thought... at one point having a conversation with a friend he told me that the local dealer just got their Lightning demo in (was news for me) and he took it for a ride. He leaned into my ear and said:" Dave, it was a life changing experience." And that it was/is.
