One of the main reasons I finally went to an all electric vehicle was the new aviability to the Tesla charge infrastructure. It is not quite what I thought it was. I got the adapter with the Lightning and it works. The truck usually blocks 2 slots which would be embarrassing at the least if the location was full or near full. The bigger problem so far has been the fact that 2 of the 4 charger locations I have attempted did not work with anything but Tesla. The Ford app does warn me by posting their capability with dashes (___KW)
rather than numbers. I even called Tesla and they confirmed that many superchargers were for Tesla only.
The price and availability of Tesla Superchargers is disappointing but when available, they are truly plug and play. Through the Ford app, little information on price is available until after the fact but it does keep you informed of the charge progress.
The geeks, err ... software engineers at both Tesla and Ford have a long way to go to electrify American roads but they are headed in the right direction.
