I have had this happen to me while having Blue Cruise on and in stop and go traffic. There was an instance where the truck accelerated with a large 18-wheeler in front of me. It was like the system suddenly didn't see the truck in front of me and decided to accelerate. Thankfully I had enough distance to brake in time.

I have learned to not trust this truck's Adaptive Cruise Crontrol in stop-and-go traffic. My previous vehicle was a BMW with the Traffic Assist and it did much much better in traffic situation.
Having BC on in stop and go traffic is not unlike an airplane autolanding...the whole time you should be on edge waiting for it to eF up.
I'm enjoying the latest BC, but I use it at hwy speed and generally kick it off if the traffic becomes stop & go as I can do that better.

There are just too many variables into play to determine a reason why this happened. Were al
I posted the same issue over a year ago. I backed into a parking spot. When I returned and started the truck I was instantly 25 ft or so out in the lot before I could hit the brakes. I don't even recall if I touched the pedal AND at that time I never used one pedal driving. All I remember is starting the car and frantically going for the brake pedal. It has never happened again. Thank God nobody was walking in front of my truck. This has never happened since. You will see tons of folks explaining what you did "wrong" BUT, @Ford Motor Company please take notice, I think there's a glitch in the software...
@swngdncr I am glad everyone is fine.
WOE... I just want to clarify what you are saying here. I avoid one pedal drive except the odd occasion like a long traffic jam. I heard these types of stories, so I thought, if I stay away from it, I would be okay. But from what you are saying, that may not be the case. So you are saying when this incident occurred "you never used one pedal drive" meaning your truck was in normal 2pd mode. You then said when you started the truck it instantly bolted 25ft. I know in order for me to start my truck I need to put my foot on the brakes, I also need to put the brakes on to put it in drive. Are you saying, it jumped 25 ft without putting it in gear and that it completely ignored your foot on the brake when you pushed start?

I started the truck with my foot on the brake (not in one pedal drive mode) and once I moved to the pedal I don't recall then or now if I got my foot to the pedal BUT I know the truck lunged as if floored and I know I did not floor the truck pedal. In fact what I recall is essentially frantically going for the brakes! It hasn't happened since.

Just yesterday my truck turned the passenger side heat to high automatically while I was driving to town...

Strange things are known to happen when the 12v battery starts to fail. If your truck is over 2 years old it’s something to check. Batteries are warranted on the 3 yr/36k basic warranty.

I blamed the climate issue on the frunk lock update... I am now at 2 years and 30K and will be at the dealership tomorrow. I'll have them check it the battery. Thanks.

I also posted this to the Reddit group, but will cross post here as I can use any and all information that others can share. I was stopped in traffic on a 4 lane road. I'm using one pedal mode, so my foot is not on the break. All of a sudden, the truck takes off, rapidly. I slam on the brakes, but not in time to keep from rear ending the tacoma in front of me. My husband says he has had the truck take off like this when he accidentally hits the resume button on the steering wheel with his arm. I don't recall this ever happening to me. Anyone ever experience anything like this? Will they be able to download any data from the truck that will explain what happened? Shouldn't the truck have recognized there was an obstacle and either not moved or stopped on its own? Again, appreciate any information or advice that would be helpful. BTW, it just updated to bluecruise 1.4 2 days ago.

Yes, I have had this to happen on my 22 lariat when I have accidentally hit the resume button on the cruise control

@swngdncr I am glad everyone is fine.
Your foot is on the brake when you start the truck and put it into gear isn't it?

I've moved several posts from this thread that drifted off Carla's original post concern "why did her Lightning unexpectedly launch forward from a stopped position while in traffic.

The side discussion about friction braking, slowing, regenerative-braking and when brake lamps illuminate have been moved to a new thread please take further discussion on that matter here:

Debate regarding braking, regen, and brake light illumination.

Please leave this thread for supplemental observations on the topic of post #1.

We all want to know the outcome of any findings as to why this happened.
