I went to get some blood work done early in the morning. Used the PAK to get there. Standing outside, waiting for the office to open, within eyesight of the truck. I noticed that the lights blinked and the horn honked on the truck. I asked myself, why would that happen?
I finished the blood work. On the way out to the truck I realized I didn't have my phone. I had left my phone in the truck.
I tried the door entry code I had set a long time ago. It didn't work!! None of any of the possible codes I might use worked!!
So.. the conclusion of all this is...

Some update along the line, erased the door access code. Unless you need the door code you don't know that it has been erased. Check it periodically. I didn't get a printed manual so there is a no place to look for the required "factory code" that is needed to set the door access code. The dealer here, wanted to charge me an hours labor for this code. I had to convince them that an update erased it, therefore I should not have to pay for the code.

The phone is an android, and it seems that when the phone goes/went to sleep, it disconnects from the truck. Hence the reason the truck locked itself. The ford app, it seems, is unable to be active in the background.

Had anyone else had this happen while leaving the phone in the truck?

What is the proper behavior when a phone is left behind?
Should it stay open until the phones dies?
Should it have time limit?
Should it behave as it did, when the phone sleeps, the truck locks?
Should it behave as it did, if and only if there is a non "factory" door code?

Put the factory code and any you create into secure storage. I have mine in my Password Manager (which I can access from my phone). I have never used the door code other once than to verify it worked. That would be about the 5th or 6th level of backup to get into my truck.
Note that I have a flash and therefore don't have PAAK - nor did I want it.

Please update your Account Details to include the year of your truck. Seems like in 2024 they stopped printing cards with the keycode. But there is a thread here that shows how to recover the master code without going to the dealer.

The phone is a key. When you leave a key in the vehicle, it will lock itself after a time.
No.
No.
Nothing to do with sleep.
No.

A factory code is never erased. YOUR code could be, but the factory code is never erased.

I leave my fob in the cupholder when I park in my garage. The truck never locks under this condition.

Do you have Walkaway lock enabled?

We got locked out of the Mach-E 2 years ago leaving fobs and phones in it. Used doorcode.

Your master code for the door pad should be on a card in the truck or with the documents you did get with the truck. There is no paper owners manual.

Hate to say it. You forgot the code or did not make one when you made a profile and PAAK. I have had every update and my door code is still the one I put there
I hate to say it but you're incorrect.

There was an update not too long ago that reset the door codes and backup start code. Maybe not on your specific truck but it did happen.
Also, if you fumble the code too many times it locks out the pad.

I tried and tried to get a part number for an uncut flat key like I had with my Ford ICE trucks but never found it. Does anyone have a part number or a link for a flat key that would fit in my wallet?

I confirm this. An update a couple of months ago DID delete my door code and start code that has been active and used for 3 years. Thank goodness I was home when I found out. The update forced a reinitialization of the PAAK and I basically had to set it up from scratch.

It was an update that erased your code. I have a habit of hitting the bottom two numbers on keypad to lock the door when I’m jumping in and out. I locked myself out of my truck a month ago at Starbucks. Keypad wouldn’t accept my code. I had to call my wife from my watch to open the truck.

Good thing your truck locked itself with you going inside for an appointment. You would’ve been calling the police and the dealership to help find your truck.

I also have the card in my wallet, though not the door key. I typically just carry the fob as I need several keys with me anyways. On occasion, I've ran out and forgot to grab my keys and realized at my destination that I'm using PAAK. I always get a little nervous but it hasn't failed yet. My problem is I'm not sure I remember my start password if my phone dies :D

What flat key? There was no flat key in my documents. Can a flat key be generated?
