No one has solid data until @Ford Motor Company publishes the information.
Seems like quite a few failures on these battery modules based on the size of this thread. A lot of 2023 and 2024 models too with low mileage. I've watched the breakdown videos on the batteries and they seem to be made by SK Batteries. Thankfully Ford designed them to be modular as they are being serviced a lot and losing a lot of $$ in the process. Not sure what's going on but these modules should not be failing so frequently @fordmotorcompany.

Our forum population is only a microcosmic of the entire buying public, if you're a statistical scientist, maybe you could draw some inferences.

Yes, the HVB pack has nine modules, which are easily swappable from the pack, the modules themselves are NOT serviceable, they go to destructive reclamation.

According to Ford’sCustomer Service Program (CSP) 23B57 “Less than 4% of the affected vehicle population is expected to require one or more high voltage battery modules needing to be replaced.” At the time this program was announced (September 13, 2023) Ford stated that 36,611 F-150 BEV were affected, and that the program would be in effect until September 13, 2024.

4% of 36,611 = 1,464 vehicles. What the actual number of vehicles that have had battery modules needing replacement are is unknown, although the technician at my dealership told me in January that he had already done 5. If that is at all typical, then the number of vehicles needing module replacement is a whole lot more than 1,464.

Additionally, although Ford said that the program would continue through September 13, 2024, Ford has continued to replace battery modules under the CSP 23B57 after that date. I have not seen any updates from Ford on this CSP and I would certainly like to know if the program will continue at least until the end of the 8 year/100,000 mile warranty of the battery.

One more point, Ford will not sell you an extended warranty for the battery beyond the original 8 year/100,000 mile factory warranty. (I asked and was told no).

A lot of people with this malfunction have bad shifter modules, not bad battery modules.

Just got the death wrench "Powertrain Malfunction/ Reduced Power"
Power was limited to 57% so accelerating on the highway felt like a normal car. Boooo!

Bad Luck!

Did you receive any notice for the 25S18 recall? If it turns out to be a battery module issue, you should contact the folks at BEV especially if your dealer seems a little lost about a timely repair solution.

I am now part of the PTM club. Got the icon this morning. After reading here, I think mine is the shifter. Will contact dealer Monday to schedule service. Currently on charger and over 64 percent.

Count me in. 2024 bought a month ago, had the malfunction 3 times in 9 days, only 2600 miles.

Also, I have about 5 dealers in a 1 hour radius and they all are booking 3-4 weeks out for diagnostic. This is my first Ford since 2007, is it just me or are Fords now so unreliable that the dealers are so backed up?

Opened a case with the Ford BEV line and they also have been little to no help.

Welcome to the forum, Ford is still cutting teeth on the BEV concept.

This might be a fluke, but my wife’s seems to only do it when it’s dirty.

Just got this.

23 Lariat SR.
7/23 manufacture date.
29,000 miles
No recall or CSP for battery issues

Got the orange wrench at ~56% battery level and after a 20 mile drive. Had not charged since Saturday afternoon.

Dismissed the warning and I only had 57% power. Went to get a haircut and when I came out I only had 53% power. 😬

Made it home and plugged in. Charged up to 62% battery level and it errored out. Orange ring on the charge port now. 😩

Called my local dealer and the soonest they can get me in is next Monday. 😒

What should my next steps be? Guessing charging is out? I commute 60 miles a day and need to be in the office tomorrow for a meeting. Would I be ok to make that drive or should I make other arrangements?

Do you have Carscanner or something that can read the codes? Call your dealer back and ask them to look the truck up, I think the service advisors use PTS likely. They can see the codes the truck has set. If all else fails you might try the 12v battery disconnect, see what clears.

Sounds more like a battery module out of voltage range though. If so, you can't charge for sure and I don't know the dangers of driving so it discharges, others can weigh in on that.

Thanks for the response. Will give the dealer a call today and see if they can give me the codes. After reading through this thread and others it sounds like a bad battery module based on others experiences

Made it to the gym this morning which is ~2 miles. The 62% battery level dropped to 60% about 15 seconds into the drive. Thinking that tiny charge yesterday was mostly a phantom charge.

Good Luck, some dealers have allowed the owners to continue driving and charging waiting for parts, but they will probably want to see the truck ...
