I am posting here in hopes Ford reads this. I just finished driving home from Tennessee to central Florida. I used both the Ford Nav and ABRP (with CarPlay off) side by side. For starters, my Ford Nav still doesn’t locate Tesla chargers. This I thought was not ideal until I decided to actually go to one of the recommended chargers at a Flying J. This brings me to the bigger problem. This station and charger WERE NOT THERE. It routed me to a “Love’s” instead. I had 25 miles of range left. Fortunately, ABRP located a Tesla charger on the other side of the highway and after a short wait, I was able to get a spot on the end to charge. I wish I had pictures and documentation, but all of the phone carrying members of my family were quite car sick after the long drive.

When Tesla adapters became a thing the Nav should have been updated on day 1. As far as bad navigation, I don’t even know what to say.

I just thought of a nav option that would give me very high confidence in letting it pick a route for me. Have a filter to only include stations that live data confirms availability and also let you choose a threshold of number of available chargers. For example, you tell it to only route you to stations with at least two working, not-in-use chargers. And if on your way there the status changes and fewer than two are available, it will ask if you want to continue to that one or route you to a different station. Even better it takes into account how many other Fords are being navigated to a station at the same time.

Do a search in the ford nav for 'tesla' if anything pops up, that means its 'seeing' the magic dock ones. Now press the settings button in the bottom left, press settings that pops up, press guidance, toward bottom of menu, make sure 'Fast Charging Adapter needed' is selected. Kinda a dumb place for it but
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

“Fast Charging Adapter Needed” is not an option on my Nav screen.

It should be an option Soon™. Make sure you are able to receive OTA updates.
I got BlueCruise 1.4 months back. I must be getting some updates.

Actually there are a few (not many but they are there) Tesla non Magic Dock superchargers in the NAV. They've been in the NAV since at least 2023.

However, yes it is beyond the pale for about 5 - 8% of Tesla Superchargers to be in there and the overwhelming majority, to not be listed.

Having watched this issue since my Mach E days, I remember some past post that I assessed as viable, stating the problem is more on the Tesla data layer side than on the Ford-as-recipient side. NFI and that was about 18+ months ago which is a long time in the tech business world.

I remember trying a workaround on the NAV some time ago: try searching for keyword "supercharger". I remember that it returned more / better results than the CHARGERS tab did. It's been a while ago though.

I've been a Lightning owner since May, 2022. I stopped using the Ford Nav app long ago, but not for the reasons you state (which are charger-related.) I stopped using Ford Nav because it is terrible as a basic navigation app. There are so many better apps for Navigation.

As for chargers, I use Flo for the unit that is on my block in Boston, and I use Tesla for when I'm out of town.

And I use a real Nav App for Navitation (of which there are many to choose, Waze, Apple, Google, etc.

Just wait until your 3 year trial expires and they start trying to get you to pay $80 a year for outdated maps without Tesla chargers.

A Lightning Round? Believe me, I am advocating for this to roll out as soon™ as it's available across model years.
