Well the time has come. My 22MY battery hadn’t failed totally and never left me strained, but it was showing signs of weakening. The doors were slow to unlock and the approach lights were not coming on. So before it left me having to jump start it on the road, I went ahead and purchased an H3 OHMMU Lthium replacement.

The difference was quite noticeable. The lights come on as they should and were subsequently brighter. The doors recognized my touch instantly. And the entertainment system booted a little more quickly also.

These batteries are much better suited to operate in our electric trucks than the lead acid they come with. They are better suited for larger range of charging and discharging. Plus the OHMMU has a BMS of its own that mimics a lead acid battery when the truck queries it which also protects the battery from excessive discharging or over charging.

In addition there is an app that allows you to query its state of health and control its charging and discharging.

They are not cheap, but have a 4 year full replacement warranty and are a lot easier to handle. (Thanks to @Lytning for the ‘heads up’ on that point.)

My early experience saids it will be worth every extra penny paid.

This is my opinion and not that of management or the staff. 😊

Haha I'm installing my Ohmmu battery today before our slightly crazy Canada / Newfoundland camping trip soon. Same thought process...

Be sure to perform the BMS reset on the Lightning after install. You may already know that, but mentioned it just in case.

I joined the club yesterday. Got a warning when I got in yesterday that was shutting do to save battery power. Took it to the service department two hours later for warranty replacement. Truck bought new 3 weeks short of two years ago. Thing is, it had lived a relatively easy life compared to many.

Had similar experience with two year old lightning - system off to save battery, failed ota software updates, etc. Installed Ohmmu battery, BMS reset, no more troubles. And yes I noticed a significant improvement to Sound system Audio Quality.

When I replaced my OEM 12V battery today, at 79,561 miles and 17 months of ownership, I noticed the two sides with the grid pattern on them (left and right side when looking at this battery in its truck location behind the frunk) were both noticeably bulged out. That didn't seem right, and the service tech where I took it at my Ford dealership, agreed. See the 2 pix.

FYI my late 2023 truck has sat at this dealership for 7 or 8+ months until I bought it in July 2024. Not sure if this matters but wanted to mention it.

We're heading up to Canada for several weeks next week so I decided to pop for the Ohmmu 12V battery. The OEM battery had not given any functional signs of failure.

Anyone else here who found their OEM 12V battery with bulging sides?

One more note: I ordered my Ohmmu in late November and it came this past week. After I installed it, I downloaded the Ohmmu Energy app and... could not connect to the battery via Bluetooth.

I then took a longer look at what I ordered. I ordered, and got the Ohmmu sodium battery. For the Lightning, Ohmmu does list a lithium battery but "orders will begin in March 2026" per their web page.

This is fine for my ends as it seems that sodium batteries do well is cold climates (we have a 3-week trip to Canada very soon). However, i do not know whether the Ohmmu lithium batteries for the Lightning are a future item, or a past / production stopped / future item.

And obviously, if You get the sodium battery don't drive Yourself crazy like I did, looking for that elusive battery Bluetooth signal... at least I chose to pop for the additional, accesory ANCEL BM200 battery stick-on monitor... now I know why the Ohmmu site suggested it.

It appears that this is all H3 sized Lithium batteries and not something specific to the Lightning.

I'm quite surprised that my 12v battery has lasted 3 summers in the desert. My previous car, a Subaru Legacy, had to have 4 replacements in the 7 years I drove it. I'm still on my stock from the factory 12v in the lightning, started driving it daily Feb '23 and sitting around 52k miles. I have a Li-Ion jump starter in the frunk if needed. I'll wait until a battery test says it needs to go or it just gives out.

I usually go with a DieHard Gold, super easy warranty replacement at AutoZone (which I've had to do multiple times). I just checked the Ohmmu website, it's only giving a 3 year warranty for the Na-Ion battery and you have to hope they have stock + wait for shipping. A DieHard Platinum is $100 cheaper and has a full replacement warranty for 4 years. It looks like Motorcraft from Rock Auto (a further $150 cheaper) has a 2 year warranty? How does the warranty replacement work for that, can I just go to the Ford service center? Ease and convenience of warranty replacement plays a big factor for me. $110 for 2 year replacement at a Ford dealer or $250 for 4 year replacement at any AutoZone. I'm leaning towards the DieHard at AutoZone cuz I'm not a huge fan of my local dealers and AutoZones are pretty easy to find if I'm on vacation.

Best bet is to wait for the lfp to come in stock as it closely matches the charging system parameters of a similar lead acid battery where the sodium battery won't charge beyond about 85% with the charging specs of these vehicles. The lfp ohmmu is supposed to be heated to accommodate Northern climates.
Would be nice if they offered a cheaper version for those of us in the south. (EDIT: cheaper as in a non-heated version. Though not sure how much that actually raises the cost.) I don't know if I want to stomach that asking price without a comparable warranty attached. 4 years for $500 vs 4 years for $250 DieHard...and no additional performance. Do we really think the LFP version will last?

I've had terrible luck with LED light bulbs that are supposed to last longer. It seems recessed can lighting dooms LED bulbs from heat build up. I've had to look into the non socket type replacements to get something that will actually last ( I hope ). I'm skeptical about LFP for a 12v solution, but open to being convinced.

I just replaced my OEM 12v with the OHMMU 12v Li-ion with a 4year warranty and it was less than $400.00. Sure still expensive, but it is designed to work better and longer in an electric vehicle that is notoriously hard on lead acid/AGM batteries.

I just had mine replaced under warranty at 31000 miles. Been through 3 hard winters so I knew it was getting close to needing to be replaced once it went into power save mode
